Why is it always "turn this right side out" rather than "wrong side in"?

As a kid, I always used to say "up side up" instead of "right side up." This apparently still amuses my mom.

And to answer the rhetorical question, maybe people usually reach in to pull out the right side rather than stuff the wrong side back in? I know I do.
